Employee Story

Marko started with an odd job emptying containers, and ended up as a supervisor in Kujala.

Marko Kokkonen’s career at Alfaroc began in 2014, when he was made redundant from his previous job in the retail business. With a family to support, he wanted to find new employment quickly.

“First, I came to Alfaroc for a day to empty containers. At the end of the day, the supervisor said there would be work available for the following day as well. That’s how it started,” explains Marko.

Marko’s organizational skills did not go unnoticed at Alfaroc. Soon, he was given customer accounts to manage and he took on team leader responsibilities.

“Warehouse work is physically straining and you also have to be organized and pay close attention to detail. But it’s the attitude that really matters. That takes you far,” says Marko.

Over the years, Marko’s hard-working approach has taken him to a supervisory position. At the moment, he works as a supervisor at the new Kujala logistics center in Lahti.

There are three supervisors at Kujala. Their main task is to ensure that day-to-day operations run smoothly. The work involves customer meetings and finding solutions to problems in operations. Supervising employees and ensuring efficient collaboration at the warehouse make up a large part of the day-to-day work.

“In this job, you must get along with all kinds of people. The workplace atmosphere at Alfaroc is excellent, and we get through even the hard days with a dose of humor and by giving each other a hand,” explains Marko.

“The company is growing strongly and we have moved up a gear.”

Originally from Savonlinna, Marko has settled into Lahti well. Regular working hours leave him time for family and hobbies, which include crossfit and music.

His future at Alfaroc looks promising as well. Varied duties and the brand new premises make work interesting.

“Alfaroc has reached an exciting phase. The company is growing strongly and I think we have moved up a gear. We are on a path to new things!”
